Promises, promises

Among the several things that made Jesus of Nazareth unique and quite unlike anyone else were his promises, writes Rev James Gatherer.

Take, for example: ‘‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.’

Can you imagine a president saying this? Or an emperor? A celebrity or a dictator? They would be dismissed as delusional and deranged, blinded by their own vanity.

In his day some accused Jesus of being mad and beside himself, yet today he is beloved all over the world by those who profess him to be the light of their lives.

Promises, Promises, will be the theme of our next Cafe Church in the Church Hall on Sunday 5th of July at 6.30 p.m. With songs, tea, coffee and delicious home baking, a splendid time is guaranteed for all.
