National Fishing Remembrance Day: May 10

An invitation from the Fishermen’s Mission:

Fishing remains one of the most dangerous peacetime professions, and on the second Sunday of May every year the Fishermen’s Mission holds services around the UK to honour the lives of fishermen lost at sea.

Join us for a service of reflection to remember fishermen who have lost their lives while bringing home the catch. The time is 2.30 pm on Sunday 10 May and the venue is Harbour Square, Kirkcudbright.

This will be a day for our town to come together in respect, remembrance, and gratitude. A day to honour those we have lost to the sea over the years, and to recognise those who continue to risk their lives every day to bring seafood to our tables.

Behind every name is a story, behind every loss a family, and behind every harbour is a community that remembers. This gathering is a moment to pause and reflect.

All are warmly welcome. Let us show the fishermen of our area that they have the full support of Kirkcudbright and our wider community.
