Kirkcudbright Book Festival: March 5 – 8

Kirkcudbright Book Festival invites you to experience its annual literary festival, celebrating local and national voices, local history, Scottish culture, children’s authors, crime fiction, nature and the environment and much more through 20 events over four days.

The second day, Friday March 6, takes place entirely in Kirkcudbright Parish Church Hall, with four events in the programme:

11 am: Kirkcudbright Poetry Group, Hexameter
A collective of six poets – Robin Leiper, Alexandra Monlaur, John Priestley, Peter Roberts, David Mark Williams and Annie Wright – will be launching their first group anthology.

2.30 pm: Philip Miller: The Diary of Lies
Philip’s third novel featuring Edinburgh investigative reporter Shona Sandison, exploring a conspiracy in UK institutions.

5 pm: Beaty Rubens: How listening to the radio transformed home life
In 1928 a “clerk in a provincial city” wrote to the BBC to say “how much wireless means to me and thousands of the same sort. It’s a real magic carpet.” Listen In as Beaty reminds us why, almost 100 years later, this still matters.

7 pm: Robert Crawford: Capturing the Bard
Join award-winning poet and biographer Robert Crawford, author of the acclaimed biography The Bard, as he talks about trying to capture the life of Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns.
