Art sale boosts redevelopment fund by more than £2,000

The Kirkcudbright Parish Church redevelopment project fund is more than £2,000 to the good after a hugely successful art sale.

The premises were venue 56 on the Kirkcudbright Art and Crafts Trail and the entire inside of the building was transformed into a gallery for potential buyers to browse.

Fundraising committee member Tracy Jones said: “Our church looked fabulous with over 80 individual pieces of donated artwork, ranging from watercolours, acrylics, oils, clay sculptures, sketches from S3 Academy students, coloured line drawings from Merse House and so many more wonderful pieces.

“Every exhibit was available to purchase, which led us to raising over £2000 for our Redevelopment Project, the final figure still to be confirmed later. I have received fabulous feedback from so many friends and strangers, all asking for us to make this an annual event, with many offering to donate their artwork.

“I would like to personally thank all artists and supporters for this fundraising event. To all of you who helped me put together and dismantle the exhibition, served refreshments and those who welcomed guests into the church.

“Can you believe we welcomed over 1000 people throughout the four days. Our busiest day was Saturday 5th with 478!

“Our thanks go to The Summer Festivities Committee for allowing us to be part of this year’s
Kirkcudbright Art and Craft Trail.”
