Prayer
We believe in the power of prayer. So many people, situations, communities, organisations, even churches, can benefit from prayer. Prayer is not the exclusive preserve of committed Christians, either for offering prayer or for benefitting from it. It is open to all.

Does prayer make a difference?
There has been plenty of research into the benefits of prayer, meditation and mindfulness, writes Rev James Gatherer. Which mostly point towards yes, they do help reduce stress and anxiety.
But is prayer worth trying when you can take tranquilizers?
Try Praying is a booklet for people who are not religious or want to explore faith. A little booklet with prayers and stories for seven days. A booklet for all who are worried anxious or simply curious – will prayer make a difference? Once you’ve tried it you can give it away.
There are Try Praying booklets in Kirkcudbright Church which are free for anyone who wishes one.
The church is open over the summer months from Tuesday to Friday, 12.30 to 4.30, for visitors and locals. There is a small Try Praying corner with some free booklets available.
You can also read the booklet online and order a free copy on the Try Praying website. Meantime, enjoy these videos …
